The Art of Profling

Wow. By now everyone must think I'm particularly biased towards QRC alumni. But who cares? The school rocked and was laden with latent talents. Kadeem and I never spoke in school, but after seeing him at a Fashion Week casting, I was impressed by his facial features and expression of always being bothered. SURE beats people with nothing there and having to build momentum

The weeks after entailed verifying that my "eye"was working well in selecting him as a facial talent, and sorting out "the look" between him and myself. Thing came into shape a day or two before and the day of exectution...it RAINED...but all worked together for good. SPECIAL thanks to Shea Best for the gracious loan of the Nikon D5000 (of which I'm now considering purchasing one of) that turned out fantastic images.

Icarus Imprisoned

DEFINITELY one of my more interesting stories in more ways than one. Fellow photographer Brent Wellington had made a Facebook post about not being a real photo enthusiast unless one trespassed for a shot or had been pursued by the police. I totally concur.

For this shoot I decided to venture to a delapidated structure on my campus grounds and for some of the shots my model was shirtless. Little did I know that from outside he appeared to be nude, and that a call was made to Campus Police about...suspicious activity. Well long story short, policeman came, spoke rubbish and i dispelled him.

I really like this shoot because it's a divergence from my usual squeeky clean beauty stuff. I finally got to try out a grunge effect.

The Eyes have it: Trinidad Look Book

Some weeks ago I was approached by the editor of a new online magazine, Trinidad Lookbook to be part of a collaborated effort to launch their first isssue. I was eager to work with other young professionals in my country and immediately accepted. As with any production...MANY things went awry. One of these was I did not get to use my usual camera but had to borrow (get this) a Canon!

But in the end, all things worked together for good.

Makeup Trends column with Kirk Thomas

So it's been a WHILE since last I've made a post and I thought I should update with my most recent work. Some weeks ago I was greatly pleased to have been contacted by Kirk Thomas, one of Trinidad's leading makeup artists to shoot the images for his weekly newspaper spread in the nation's most noted newspaper, the Trinidad Express.
The whole process of production was very fast paced but highly enjoyable. I experienced a level of professionalism that I treasure each time I do a project, and the results thrilled me from in the field...in post production review...and in print.

Nkosi Myers by Cecil Evans

I've known Nkosi some 6 years now, having attended the same college at secondary school and since starting photography I knew there would come a time where I'd call on him for a shoot. His strong features reflect so many traits of the people of Trinidad and Tobago and particularly reminded me of male supermodel David Gandy.

We spoke over the course of two weeks about "the look"...had some setback but for a first time... I have to say he delivered. Special thanks to Derren for assistance.

Keith Allicock: Demerara Gold

In my many hours of internet networking with Caribbean talent I came across Keith, and luckily he was scheduled for a visit to my home island Trinidad for the Carnival holiday.

K.A. "So...when I come am I gonna get a shoot?"
C.E. "Yea...not a problem...but you better work..."

Model + Photographer = Photo shoot. I'm not fond of math, but it was a winning equation. Special thanks to Jabari McQueen for assistance with reflector duty.

Consequent to my shooting Keith, and sharing his images with talent manager Kai Jankovic, he was able to book a shoot with the talented Kevin Acevero. Look out for that spread soon on Island Blog. Talk about your whirlwind vacation!
